Khan set the tone for his eyebrow-raising, now cheer-inducing tenure when he sent underperforming receiver Chase Claypool packing to Chicago in return for the Bears’ second-round pick in the 2023 draft. That selection turned to gold as the Bears kept losing and the pick kept trending upward. When all was said and done, it settled at No. 32 – technically a first rounder since the Patriots had to forfeit their selection. With it, Khan brought Joey Porter Jr., the Penn State cornerback with a Steelers legacy, home. It became the highlight of a stellar Steelers’ draft that produced contributors, if not starters, across the board. Khan’s moves helped propel the 2023 team into the playoffs. Now, Khan’s overriding goal is to add enough talent to take the 2024 team a step further and actually win a postseason contest for the first time in seven insufferable seasons. 01.01.1970 · 01:00:00 ··· 17.04.2024 · 20:34:18 ··· ···
··· ··· ··· ··· Omar Khan’s 23 months since being anointed the Steelers GM, following Kevin Colbert’s post 2022-draft retirement, has been a masterclass of maximizing return and minimizing risk. ··· ··· ··· ··· For the past 6 years Domineak Commodore has been the head wrestling coach for the Harrisburg High Cougars. The 34 year-old Harrisburg High alumni credits the sport he loves in playing a major role in who he is today. After graduating from Harrisburg High Commodore went on to wrestle at Messiah College while earning his bachelors degree. After finishing his college athletics career, he wanted to give back to the sport that taught him so many life lessons and joined the wrestling coaching staff at Messiah College. During his time as a coach with Messiah College, Commodore won the College Wrestling Association National Coach of the Year Award in 2016 and 2017. Since Commodore took over as the Cougars head wrestling coach the team has never had a losing season, and the youth program has grown to become one of the largest organizations in the area. Commodore credits a large part of the programs success to his coaching staff not only at the high school level but at the middle school and elementary levels as well. “We have an amazing youth wrestling program with coaches that have been around for over 20 years and are real pillars in the community. Our elementary team head coach Leland Nelson and our middle school head coach Marvin Gregg are amazing and the program wouldn’t be what it is today without them” said Commodore. “Wrestling is a growing sport and our program is growing with it. I am glad to be able to give back to a community and a sport that has poured so much into me.” The Harrisburg Cougars High School team finished 14-6 this season with 13 first year wrestlers. The Cougars are only losing two graduating seniors from the starting lineup and will be looking to improve on this years success. Commodore currently teaches at Camp Curtin Middle School while he finishes his Principles Certification at Shippensburg University. “I am living in my purpose. Being able to be that person I needed and looked up to as a kid is what keeps me going everyday when I wake up.” We got the opportunity to go behind the scenes with Coach Commodore and his team as they battled against Susquehanna Township earlier in the season. Check out some behind scenes footage from the match below.
