But by the time this gentle soul arrived in our hospital his hope was somehow restored: he stood! An infection had caused great swelling at his lower jaw. It must have hurt Moby to eat; he could only slowly nibble the green grass we surrounded him with. But every time we cleaned his wound and re-bandaged Moby, he rewarded us with mountains of affection. His velvet-soft eyes were full of acceptance, trust and love.
What a pleasure it has been to heal Moby's wound. Now he is taller, (still quite thin) and full of affection. You'll see that most of our video footage after he's healed are frontal views, because he just won't stop following whoever holds the camera--Moby LOVES to be caressed.

She did have a small wound on her head but further examination and time revealed nerve damage to her spine, causing her to have permanent neck damage.

Inside though, is an electrical firestorm. She's completely disoriented after suffering a trauma to her head, having been hit by a car. She will die without emergency help. Motorists contact Animal Aid and we hurry her to our hospital. There, we find her so unresponsive that even when we inject her with pain medicine and anti-inflammation meds she doesn't even flinch.
We stabilize and nourish her with an IV drip. She seems not to recognize food, though her body must be craving it. We named her Musli. By the second day it's as if her tongue remembers this thing called "eating" though her eyes remain utterly blank. But please, watch until the end--Musli does not regain her full palette of skills, but her eyes are bright, she moves with coordination and best of all, Rose has become, again, a girl who wants to live and recognizes love.

Due to head trauma, Doon was unconscious when we laid him on the treatment table. We treated him for pain and we were mainly concerned about whether or not he would ever regain consciousness.
So we were utterly delighted when, by his second day, he was able to swallow when fed using a syringe. Even that swallow reflex indicated progress, healing. By the third day he showed us a major breakthrough: Doon was able to eat completely on his own, and within a few days was able to stand on wobbly legs.
There's just nothing like a puppy's determination to play. Take a look at beautiful Doon now. If there were palm readers for dogs, we're pretty sure Doon's would say: "Adventure Ahead!"

With local people’s help, we managed to lift her into our ambulance and took her straight to our hospital.
Her outside injuries were clearly visible with the side of her body sore and swollen but we needed to examine her after pain medication to assess the internal damage. She would need a lot of strength to heal. Each day a large team of staff would help hoist her up into the trellis, massaging her legs to help blood flow and strengthen her muscles.
Sadly, Magnolia didn’t fully recover, so… she now lives with us in her permanent forever sanctuary home. Her walk is very labored but she is so loved with us.

media:description>Advanced mange is a devastating condition and without treatment many dogs will die from it.
Mange is an infestation of parasites below the skin. With Ava, the itching was so severe that she broke the skin in many places just from scratching. Sometimes dogs find it difficult to stop moving almost as if they're trying to run away from whatever is causing them so much distress. This continuous movement burns calories and they often become very thin. Mange is usually cured by medicated baths and internal medicine by injection or tablet form.
We are sometimes able to treat mange in its early stages without hospitalization as long as there is a household where we can find them when we return to repeat the treatments. But in an advanced case like Ava's, we couldn't take the chance of treating her on the street in case we weren't able to find her after the first treatment. It was also important to give exhausted, thin Ava the chance to rest in a peaceful relaxed environment.
This rest was a wonderful addition to Ava's medical treatment. She gained weight and muscle when the terrible itching was stopped, and seeing her beautiful soft new fur grow was downright exciting for our treatment team. Thank you for giving us the means to help one darling animal after another.

The sadhu (Hindu devotee) who called for our rescue waited until the ambulance arrived. When he reached the hospital's treatment table his eyes seemed to say, innocently, without judgment, with just a hint of doubt, "What are you doing to me?" but then immediately they softened to "But OK, then, I'm ready!"
We treated him for pain, inflammation and examined the fracture, which needed a stabilizing splint. What a good boy he was throughout his several weeks of bed rest. And oH was it worth it. He stored up a whole lot of play, and Peter's making up for lost time in radiant delight.

Within a few weeks both her leg wound and the fungal infection had healed, we spayed and vaccinated her, and Meetu's new life had begun.

She had a job to do--to feed her babies. Her neighbors called us immediately when they noticed Burki's blood matted fur. Maggots can work incredibly quickly to worsen an already-awful wound. It was hard to separate Burki from her two puppies, but the family kindly offered to keep her babies healthy while Burki healed in the hospital.
Once in treatment, her eyes transformed from fearful to sad. We would do everything we could to ensure she healed quickly and could get home to those waiting for her. But still, it would take several weeks to heal a wound this size. We were grateful that despite her grave depression, she would eat. When she received comfort cuddles the first day, Burki relaxed a little, but she remained very anxious for the first few days.
However, Burki healed beautiful. We spayed her, her coat became shiny, she gained a bit of weight and began to smile. A few days later on our welfare check, Burki gave us the most remarkable tour of her home, and introduced us to her precious family. We are so grateful to the neighbors who have welcomed all 3 (plus another Blackie-Whitey you'll spot at the end) into their garden and into their lives.
