According to Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, the tariffs will expire automatically after four years, but can be extended if the US Trade Representative’s office receives a request from domestic industries that benefited.
The additional duties on Chinese imports was initiated by former US President Donald Trump in 2018. The duties cover goods including industrial inputs such as microchips and chemicals, and consumer merchandise such as apparel and furniture, according to Bloomberg. In total, the US sanctioned Chinese imports were worth US$300 billion as of 2019, creating a “massive” trade deficit. China called it “unfair”.

The restrictions will hamper the sale of Nvidia's A100 and forthcoming H100 integrated circuits, as well as any related systems, to China.

According to a report by the International Organization for the Eradication of Falun Gong, the transplant unit at the hospital may be one of the main sources of organ transplants in China. Its Vice President He Xiaoshun and several doctors admitted in a telephone survey to using organs from Falun Gong practitioners. The hospital also has a "brain death center," which may be an organ donor bank.

In 2008 he was arrested in China because his art offended the Chinese Communist Party. Daxiong recently collaborated with filmmaker Jason Louftus (loft-iz)
who was executive producer for the film "Human Harvest" which was a Peabody Award recipient in 2015.
