British Movietone On this day in 1940, Italy still struggled with calamities after invading Egypt 3 months ago. Here is a British Movietone report showing Egyptians strengthening their defenses.
Following Italy's declaration of war the Egyptians strengthened their defences.
Tanks cooperate with Egyptian troops ashore. Under the Statue of the British Lion, an Egyptian soldier keeps guard. These warriors also stand at the banks of the Nile. Shots of Cairo, (one perfect elevated shot) and the Pyramids. Motorboats armed with Bren guns keep up a ceaseless patrol on the actual waterway. The last shot is of an Egyptian standing by the flag on the bow of a boat. Also included are pictures of tank maneuvers in the desert. They are hastily manned and go off into the desert where they advance in formation.
