Some hidden features in the SPEECH20.TOS program for Atari 520ST computers.
* To change the pitch: enter !XXX (where XXX is a number from 20 to 127). Lower values are higher pitched. Too high, and there may be issues.
* To change the speed: enter %XXX (same as above: a number from 20 to 127). Lower values are for faster reads.
* To switch to Phoneme Mode, enter a single period. Now you may type phonemes directly.
* In Phoneme Mode, you can pitch up or down individual phonemes by following them with a number 1-9. Useful for inflection... or singing...
* You can also use less-than or greater-than signs to lengthen or shorten a phoneme. I don't seem to be able to combine number with length, though.
* Special phonemes "Q", space, comma, period introduce pauses of various lengths.
* A single period returns you to text mode.
It is also possible to keep typing off the edge of the screen, and ST-SPEECH will read it all, but too many phonemes produced will cause a buffer overflow and crash the program.
