Today Gabe attended his first “Rock Spellers” Climbing Group at Sport Rock Climbing Gym which is run by an instructor named Travis! Gabe calls it that, although that is not what it’s actually called. It’s a Sensory Climbing Group Today Gabe was the only speller there actually! The main group of kids who spell and climb go on Tuesdays while Gabe is at school. Hopefully in the summer months he will also get to attend that group as well!
Gabe has been coming to Sport Rock since the spring with us. I didn’t expect to get emotional today, but I found myself in tears. This group is perfect for him. It was wonderful to see Gabe connect with Travis. It didn’t take long for him to trust him. Once he did his first climb on the wall he came down and started to dance! That’s how we knew he was happy to be there. Gabe did not give up and participated for the entire two hours with the group. I’m so grateful that this group exists. Gabe loves to climb and is improving each time.
