PM Modi inaugurates ‘powerhouse’ Rajkot International Airport in Gujarat

ANI News In a significant boost for the Indian Aviation sector, PM Modi inaugurated the new and bigger International Airport in Rajkot. With a massive runway of 3000 m, the beautiful airport is spread across 25 acres of land. The total cost for the construction of the airport came out to be approximately Rs 1,500 crore. Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel accompanied the Prime Minister. The Rajkot International Airport has been included in the PM Gati Shakti Project. The airport is also equipped with a solar power system, a green belt, and a rainwater harvesting system. Speaking at the inauguration, AAI Chairperson Sanjeev Kumar said that "it’s a matter of happiness." The Airport will be the epitome of the local architectural heritage and will reflect the cultural glory of art and dance forms of Gujarat. The new airport in Rajkot will contribute not only to the development of the local automobile industry in Rajkot, but, will also encourage trade, tourism, education, and industrial sectors throughout Gujarat.
