The Brazilian thrash/crossover band Possuído Pelo Cão is a cult band in its home country, not only because of some of its members, who are also known as Violator, DxFxCx, Terror Revolucionário and Innocent Kids. The first demo ‘Semen Churches’, which was publicly praised by Possessed singer Jeff Becerra, appeared in 2006 and was released digitally and only in a small CD edition at the time. A re-release (CD only) on Golden Core took place in autumn 2024.
The political and socio-critical lyrics are typical of the genre, but of course fun is also emphasised. You can hear this throughout the energetic debut ‘Possessed In The Circle Pit’. The joy of playing and the energy are simply infectious, even on record.
This 2008 debut has not been available on vinyl since 2010. The timing is perfect, as the band has been active again for a few months now and finally wants to gain a foothold in Europe. The reissue of the LP, adequately mastered for vinyl for the first time and in gatefold, as well as the EP from 2006 ‘Semen Churches’, which was also recently released by Golden Core, will help them to do so.
