North Korea has rapidly shuttered several of its overseas embassies and consulates, including in Spain, Hong Kong and various African countries, according to state media KCNA on November 3, 2023. North Korea watchers said the diplomatic departures were likely linked to Pyongyang’s dire economic situation and warned that more withdrawals could happen soon.
