'Cost-effective games' the target for Qld government's Olympic operation

Sky News Australia Queensland Premier Steven Miles has been accused of wasting $1 billion on an ageing suburban stadium to host the athletics at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
As opinion polls turn against him in an election year, the Premier has backflipped on a plan to rebuild the Gabba.
State Treasurer Cameron Dick told media it would be a “cost-effective games”.
“This decision will give us maximum bang for buck,” Mr Dick said.
Mr Miles reiterated the proposed cost of the new stadium was too much for Queenslanders who were struggling.
