Students back to school in violence-hit Manipur after 2 months amid tight security

ANI News Sigh of relief for students of Manipur amid the grim situation in the violence-hit state. Amid extreme conditions in Manipur, schools initially reopened for classes 01 to 08. Normal classes were immediately suspended after the violence-hit Manipur on May 03. Students were excited as they reunited with their friends in School after two months. However, students’ attendance was less in comparison to their previous attendance. Meanwhile, 96 school administrations still exempted themselves from reopening. As per the administrations, they are still involved in the relief measures following the violence. Ethnic violence erupted in Churachandpur after tribal Kuki groups called for protests. The protest was against a proposal for granting ST status to the majority Meitei community. At least 118 people died and nearly 40,000 displaced so far in the violence-hit Manipur.
