In the eastern Chinese town of Pingdu, semi-finished false eyelashes imported from North Korea are processed and packaged before being exported. Their final destinations include the West, Japan and South Korea. Millions of dollars in sales of the product last year helped drive the country’s recovery despite international sanctions.
