The Currys have been married for over a decade, but their love story began when they were teenagers.
When Stephen was 15 and Ayesha was 14, they met at a Charlotte, North Carolina church.
Stephen's sister described Ayesha's early impact on her brother in The Miraculous Rise of Steph Curry. "She would find him after church, barely say two words, and, like, walk away," Sydel wrote. "She flirted with him that way." It pleased him. It was memorable." Ayesha and Stephen's conversations didn't evolve for years. After meeting at the ESPYs in 2008, they reunited. Ayesha subsequently told the New York Post, "I mean, it was friend vibes... until I dodged the first kiss."
Once Ayesha learned her former childhood friend was interested in more than friendship, things came into place. On June 30, 2011, Stephen and Ayesha married and had their first child, Riley, the following year. In 2015 and 2018, Ryan and Canon joined their family.
Stephen remembered creating the stage for his 2016 Parents proposal. "We pretended to go to a family cookout," he claimed. "So we pulled up to the house and I stopped in the middle of the driveway, got down on my knee, and started my spiel." Little did I realize the whole family was watching out the window."
The teenage sweethearts married at the Ballantyne Resort in North Carolina on June 30, 2011, with 400 of their loved ones in attendance. A strapless gown with a long skirt and elaborate flower embroidery below the waist was worn by the bride.
The Charlotte Observer interviewed Ayesha about the wonderful moment. I was asked if I knew where we were. She recalled, "We had our first kiss in my parents' driveway." "He pulled me close and said all these sweet things and then dropped down on one knee." I was stunned."
