As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.
My husband and I got a puppy this year. Something I've always wanted, but I had no idea what it really meant to raise a puppy. There are lots of unpleasantries when it comes to taking care of an animal, no matter how cute they are. I didn't realize how unpleasant it could be, and I know that the parents out there know what I mean and more. I think that's what stands out to me the most about this verse - it's pretty hard to stomach, but it's a very true statement about dogs, right? But it's harder to admit or come to terms with the fact that it's a very true statement about myself too. How often do I turn back to old patterns and old ways and wonder why I don't feel fulfilled? The good news is that the Lord is a lot kinder of a caretaker than us and much more patient and steadfast, persistent in reminding us to turn back around toward him. From death to life.
