Here it is people!
At 7:30pm on Friday night we were told that we had until 7:30pm on Sunday night (48 hours) to write, produce, edit and send in a movie that was longer than 4 minutes and less than 8.
We were then informed that the story had to be built around a broom, a character named Geoffrey Moon who was a fortune teller and the line of dialogue, "I wasn't even supposed to be here today." Then we picked a genre out of a hat and got... "Coming of age story."
We only had a crew of 3 (including myself) to produce, write, direct, light, shoot, act and edit. After 5 hours of shooting with our camera, we realized it wasn't capturing audio correctly so we switched to an Iphone and shot the entire film that way while recording sound onto a second Iphone and then syncing them. All three of us edited concurrently on different laptops for 5 hours, and got it submitted with 17 minutes to spare. (Was nail-biting watching the upload).
Out of 24 competing teams our film was nominated for 3 Awards, and we got to see it screen at a theater to great audience reaction.
"Sweeping Change" was produced in 48 hours for the 48 Hr Film Project Asheville, NC 2024.
It's the story of David Duchart, an overworked and under appreciated business executive who is about to go on a life changing journey upon his return home from work.
