Kids starting to see ‘violent extremism content’ on a ‘regular basis’

Sky News Australia ESafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant says the United Kingdom has indicated kids in primary school are starting to see “violent extremism content on a regular basis”.
Tech giants could face tens of millions of dollars in penalties if they fail to act on violent or extremist material on their platforms.
Meta, Google, X, Telegram, WhatsApp and Reddit have received legal notices from Australia’s eSafety Commissioner in response to a surge in reports of harmful content.
Ms Inman Grant says terrorism online has been a problem since the “early days of the internet”.
“We now know that 71 per cent of Australian teenagers are seeing seriously harmful content like this online,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Our counterparts in the UK indicated that kids in primary school are starting to see violent extremism content on a regular basis.
“We cannot let this content be normalised.”
