Last night, over 1,000 bombs fell upon Lebanon as Israel escalated its assault, following the earlier pager attacks that injured 3,000 and killed over 20. In response, Hezbollah has declared their readiness to continue the fight, and Iran stands poised to replenish their missile stockpiles. The cycle of violence rages on, with no end in sight.
What is perhaps most heartbreaking is the continued support for these attacks from Christians, even when innocent children in Gaza become the victims. We must remember that Jesus came to break the curse of sin and death. The Gospel of Christ explicitly rejects the notion of genocide or the belief that entire populations can be eradicated in the name of justice.
It is time to realign our hearts with the true message of the Gospel and reject any form of violence that contradicts Christ's teachings.
