Psalm 96-98 - A New Song
Psalm 96:1 - “Oh sing to the LORD a new song!”
Psalm 96 was written when David brought the Ark into the city of Jerusalem. It represented the presence of God – coming to dwell among His people. But we are told to sing a new song - because the Psalmist was looking forward to a new event. Not the Ark coming into the city - but God coming down to earth!
The LORD came down to dwell among men - to give us hope because we were separated from God. Which allows us to sing a new song about how God saved us!
