Pastor Ben Ochola SPENDING TIME WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
*Sunday 28th April 2024- Second service*
*James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.*
Man can not keep the laws of God by himself that is why in the New Testament, the Holy Spirit indwells us to help us fulfill them.
*Ezekiel 36:27 - I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.*
It is impossible to live effectively as a Christian without knowing the fellowship of the Holy Spirit that's why if you love God you need to spend time with Him.
*Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.*
God is aware that we have weaknesses that's why He sends us help through the person of the Holy Spirit. One of His major ministries is prayer.
The more we fellowship with Him, the more what He has rubs onto us; The key to change and transformation is in fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
*Proverbs 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.*
The Holy Spirit is the only friend who knows all your weaknesses yet never leaves. He is constantly with us to help make the Christian life easy.
When God made Adam, He looked at Him and said ;
*"It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." Genesis 2:18*
*Genesis 2:21-23 [21] And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. [22] Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.*
Adam could not fulfill his mandate on earth without a helper (woman). The woman is a picture of the Holy Spirit; without Him, we cannot walk into the blessings of Genesis 1:26,28.
*Luke 2:41-46*
How sensitive are you to the Holy Spirit? Mary and Joseph progressed for three days without Jesus but when they realized they went back and found Him in the temple.
If you need to locate Him, He is in the temple in times of prayer. We need to spend time with Him in prayer.
Jesus asked Peter three times;
*"Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?"..... John 21:15-17*
God loves to be loved, He wants you to spend time with Him. If He wants to do something on earth, He will use those who spend time with Him because He needs a body here on earth to work with.
*John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.*
*John14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--*
Jesus was so limited in His physical body: but when He returned in the person of the Holy Spirit, He became unlimited. He could be everywhere at the same time and He was able to reproduce Himself in millions of believers.
The Holy Spirit is your advantage in all areas of your life. Learn to spend time with Him and engage Him to help you in your job, career, marriage, ministry, etc.
