South China Morning Post President-elect Joe Biden addresses the nation from the state of Delaware after the Democratic candidate defeated Republican incumbent Donald Trump in the US election. Biden’s vice-presidential running made Kamala Harris joined him on stage in the city of Wilmington after it was clear they had at least 270 electoral votes from US states. They earned about 51 per cent of the popular vote compared to 48 for Trump and face the challenges of leading a deeply divided nation when Biden is confirmed as the 46th US president in January 2021.
