Fresh anti-Macron protests in Pakistan over French president’s Islam comments

More protests against the French president took place in Karachi on November 7, 2020, when thousands of demonstrators turned out in the streets of Pakistan’s largest city. The rally targeted French leader Emmanuel Macron for his recent comments about Islam and defending the right to publish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. Such images are viewed as offensive by most Muslims. French officials are also trying to ease international tension over the issue. Paris has been engaged in a diplomatic push including a visit to Egypt by the French foreign minister on November 8.
