Being a woman and being a mom, Oakley is nurturing those around her and mothering in a unique way. “When my second baby, Welles, was born I was in the NICU staring into his fresh-from-heaven face. I could see so much wisdom and love from my Heavenly Father in those almond-shaped eyes that, days earlier, had tipped the nurses off to a possible diagnosis of Down syndrome. “I was terrified of the journey ahead with a child who might have needs I felt incapable to fulfill. The feelings were valid, and the fear of an unexpected diagnosis is rightfully stressful. But I was wrong about the doubts that I had in myself to be his mother. “God knew exactly what he was doing placing Welles and me together. “Those moments in the NICU were tender, the Spirit was strong, and at one point in that tiny little curtain-drawn space, I felt the Spirit tell me that Welles and I were meant to do a great work together. Since then, we have been a team—advocating for inclusion and love and working to open eyes to the worth of unique souls, like his. Together we have built a community of families who also have children with disabilities. I love these children with my whole heart and can literally see the love of my Heavenly Father in their eyes! Mothering to me is being a mom to my family and my community. I find so much joy and fulfillment mothering in the unique way Heavenly Father set up for me. I hope that through my advocacy work I can teach my children to stand tall and be a voice for all of God’s children.” —Oakley SUBSCRIBE to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the latest videos. The gift of repentance by the Savior's sacrifical performance of the Atonement gives us power over death and opens the doors of heavenly possibilities. “God is not devoid of emotions. He looks after us with all the tender feeling of a loving parent. I imagine the joy He felt in knowing that [His Beloved Son] would eventually win a glorious triumph over sin and death—throwing open the doors of heavenly possibilities so that you and I could someday live again with our loved ones. “But I also believe His joy was tempered by the perfect knowledge of what awaited His Beloved Son. … This same Son would suffer as none had ever, nor could ever, suffer. “But because our Heavenly Father loves us so much, He allowed these joyful and painful events to take their proper course. Because the world needed saving, and because you and I need saving, He sent us a Savior. “… Let us accept God’s perfect and precious gift. Let us cast our burdens and sins at the Savior’s feet and experience the joy that comes from repentance and change. Let us follow Jesus Christ and emulate His life.” —President Russell M. Oakley is a mom to her son and an advocate in her community. "Repentance brings joy and change that brings us closer to Jesus Christ. He knows the way because He is the way... “If you are lonely, please know you can find comfort. If you are discouraged, please know you can find hope. 16:: Because of Jesus Christ We Can Navigate Life's Challenges

01.01.1970 01:00:00 31.03.2024 13:00:29
Because of Jesus Christ We Can Navigate Life's Challenges. President Russell M. Nelson, President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shares his testimony that He lives! He is our Advocate with the Father and our Redeemer. As conflicts between nations escalate, and as corruption becomes increasingly commonplace, what can help us? What can help each of us with our personal struggles and with the rigorous challenge of living in these latter days? The prophet Lehi taught a principle for spiritual survival. “Men are, that they might have joy.” Joy comes from and because of Him. He is the source of all joy. As in all things, Jesus Christ is our ultimate exemplar, “who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross.” Think of that! In order for Him to endure the most excruciating experience ever endured on earth, our Savior focused on joy! And what was the joy that was set before Him? Surely it included the joy of cleansing, healing, and strengthening us; the joy of paying for the sins of all who would repent; the joy of making it possible for you and me to return home. Without His Resurrection, death would be the end. Our Savior’s Atonement made eternal life a possibility and immortality a reality for all. He lives! He is our Advocate with the Father, our Exemplar, and our Redeemer. #BecauseofHim ▶︎ SUBSCRIBE to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the latest videos: http://bit.ly/1M0iPwY 🔔 Turn on notifications to stay updated with new uploads! ▶︎ The Church of Jesus Christ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ChurchOfJesusChrist/ ▶︎ The Church of Jesus Christ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/churchofjesuschrist ▶︎ The Church of Jesus Christ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ch_jesuschrist?lang=en Visit us on our WEBSITE: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org

17:: Finding Strength in Jesus Christ

01.01.1970 01:00:00 30.03.2024 14:00:25
Finding Strength in Jesus Christ. President Dallin H. Oaks, a counselor in the First Presidency shares his testimony of the Savior's power to succor, to help, every mortal pain and affliction, because of His atoning experience in mortality. “He will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of His people.” Mortality is filled with frequent struggles, heartaches, and suffering. We and those we love suffer sickness; the death of a loved one. We all experience failure in our personal responsibilities, the feeling of rejection, racial and ethnic prejudices, and unemployment or other reverses in our plans. Some are born with physical or mental disabilities. For many, the infirmity of depression. Another painful affliction is the circumstance of singleness. The Savior has the power to succor—to help—every mortal pain and affliction. Sometimes His power heals an infirmity. Sometimes He succors or helps by giving us the strength or patience to endure our infirmities. Because of His atoning experience in mortality, our Savior is able to comfort, heal, and strengthen all men and women everywhere, but I believe He does so only for those who seek Him and ask for His help. Our Savior has revealed that He “descended below all things”. He knows of our anguish, and He is there for us. Like the good Samaritan, when He finds us wounded at the wayside, He will bind up our wounds and care for us. The healing and strengthening power of Jesus Christ and His Atonement is for all of us who will ask.

01.01.1970 01:00:00 29.03.2024 14:00:00
Finding Peace: 5 Insights from the Savior's Words. President Henry B. Eyring, a counselor in the First Presidency shares his testimony and thoughts to help each of us find peace through Jesus' great sacrifice. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” I have learned at least five truths from that teaching of the Savior. First, the gift of peace is given after we have the faith to keep His commandments. Second, the Holy Ghost will come and abide with us. Third, the Savior promises that as we keep our covenants, we can feel the love of the Father and the Son for each other and for us. Fourth, keeping the Lord’s commandments requires more than obedience. We are to love God with all our heart, might, mind, and soul. Fifth, it is clear that the Lord loves us. To pay the price of our sins so that we can—through our faith in Him and our repentance have the gift of the peace that “passeth all understanding,” in this life and with Him eternally.

20:: Finding Comfort in Jesus Christ's Solitary Journey

01.01.1970 01:00:00 28.03.2024 14:00:49
Finding Comfort in Jesus Christ's Solitary Journey . Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony that because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so. Now I speak very carefully, even reverently, of what may have been the most difficult moment in all of this solitary journey to Atonement. That concluding descent into the paralyzing despair of divine withdrawal when He cries in ultimate loneliness, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” With all the conviction of my soul I testify that He did please His Father perfectly and that a perfect Father did not forsake His Son in that hour. Nevertheless, that the supreme sacrifice of His Son might be as complete as it was voluntary and solitary, the Father briefly withdrew from Jesus the comfort of His Spirit. It was required, indeed it was central to the significance of the Atonement, that this perfect Son who had never spoken ill nor done wrong nor touched an unclean thing had to know how the rest of humankind would feel when we did commit such sins. His Atonement to be infinite and eternal, He had to feel what it was like to die not only physically but spiritually. When the uttermost farthing had then been paid, then finally and mercifully, it was “finished.” Against all odds, Jesus of Nazareth, the living Son of the living God, restored physical life where death had held sway and brought joyful, spiritual redemption out of sin, hellish darkness, and despair. One of the great consolations of this Easter season is that because Jesus walked such a long, lonely path utterly alone, we do not have to do so. This Easter week and always, may we stand by Jesus Christ “at all times and in all things, and in all places that [we] may be in, even until death,” for surely that is how He stood by us when it was unto death and when He had to stand entirely and utterly alone.

21:: Transformed Through the Love of Jesus Christ

01.01.1970 01:00:00 27.03.2024 14:00:39
Transformed through the love of Jesus Christ through His perfect love for us . Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony of His perfect love for us and how our failures do not have to define us. They can refine us. Because of God’s perfect love for us and the eternal sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our sins—both great and small—can be blotted out and remembered no more. The Savior’s infinite Atonement completely changes the way we may view our transgressions and imperfections. Instead of dwelling on them and feeling irredeemable or hopeless, we can learn from them and feel hopeful. Because of Jesus Christ, our failures do not have to define us. They can refine us. Like a musician rehearsing scales, we can see our missteps, flaws, and sins as opportunities for greater self-awareness, deeper and more honest love for others, and refinement through repentance. If we repent, mistakes do not disqualify us. They are part of our progress. We are all infants compared to the beings of glory and grandeur we are designed to become. No mortal being advances from crawling to walking to running without frequent stumbles, bumps, and bruises. That is how we learn. If we earnestly keep practicing, always striving to keep God’s commandments, and committing our efforts to repenting, enduring, and applying what we learn, line upon line, we will gather light into our souls. My beloved friends, your Heavenly Father loves you with a perfect love. He has proven His love in endless ways, but above all by giving His Only Begotten Son as a sacrifice. I extend to you my love and blessing at this joyful Easter season. 22:: Even if all of your pains aren’t healed tomorrow, we can feel relief today. #Jesus

01.01.1970 01:00:00 27.03.2024 06:46:56
Whatever is heavy on your heart today, you can feel relief through Jesus Christ. In her October 2023 general conference address, Sister Tamara W. Runia said: “Because of Christ, it all works out. Everything you and you and you are worried about—it’s all going to be OK! And those who look with an eye of faith can feel that it’s going to be OK now.” Even if all of your pains aren’t healed tomorrow, thanks to the grace of Jesus Christ, we can feel relief today. 23:: Finding Help in Jesus Christ

01.01.1970 01:00:00 26.03.2024 14:24:14
Jesus Christ, because of His infinite and eternal sacrifice, has perfect empathy . Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony of the empathy and mercy extended through His sacrifice. The Savior said: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” Making and keeping sacred covenants yokes us to and with the Lord Jesus Christ. In essence, the Savior is beckoning us to rely upon and pull together with Him, even though our best efforts are not equal to and cannot be compared with His. As we trust in and pull our load with Him during the journey of mortality, truly His yoke is easy and His burden is light. We are not and never need be alone. We can press forward in our daily lives with heavenly help. Through the Savior’s Atonement we can receive capacity and “strength beyond [our] own” It is one thing to know that Jesus Christ came to the earth to die for us. But we also need to appreciate that the Lord desires, through His Atonement and by the power of the Holy Ghost, to enliven us. There is no physical pain, no spiritual wound, no anguish of soul or heartache, no infirmity or weakness you or I ever confront in mortality that the Savior did not experience first. In a moment of weakness we may cry out, “No one knows what it is like. No one understands.” But the Son of God perfectly knows and understands, for He has felt and borne our individual burdens. And because of His infinite and eternal sacrifice (see Alma 34:14), He has perfect empathy and can extend to us His arm of mercy and help us to do that which we could never do relying only upon our own power. Indeed, His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

24:: In the Footsteps of Jesus: Walking the Path of Love

01.01.1970 01:00:00 25.03.2024 16:49:13
Jesus Christ asks us to love one another. Elder Quentin L. Cook, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony of Jesus Christ's administration of the last supper and the powerful principle taught at that event. The final two days of the Savior’s mortal ministry prior to His Crucifixion are profoundly important and in some ways beyond comprehension. He took bread, broke it, prayed over it, and passed it to His disciples, saying, “This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.” The Savior subsequently accomplished the Atonement. He took upon Himself the “burden of the sins of mankind” and the “horrors that Satan … could inflict.” This ultimately culminated in Christ’s triumphant Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Christ fulfilled His sacred mission as Savior and Redeemer. As we ponder what it means to be Christians today, think about what our path of discipleship will require of us. The Savior’s charge to His disciples to love one another—and the dramatic and powerful way He taught this principle at the Last Supper—is one of the most poignant and beautiful episodes from the last days of His mortal life. He was not teaching a simple class in ethical behavior. This was the Son of God pleading with His Apostles and all disciples who would come after them to remember and follow this most central of His teachings. How we relate and interact with each other is a measure of our willingness to follow Jesus Christ. As His disciples, there will be times when we will be tried and persecuted unjustly and mocked unfairly and face temporal and spiritual storms of a magnitude that will seem unbearable to us and experience bitter cups that we pray would pass from us. No one is exempt from the storms of life. We rejoice in all the Savior has done for us. He has made it possible for each of us to gain our salvation and exaltation. I bear my apostolic witness that Jesus Christ lives and is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He has provided the pathway to true happiness. Of this I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

25:: Becoming One in Christ | Easter

01.01.1970 01:00:00 24.03.2024 14:00:13
Jesus Christ love and cares for each of us. Elder D. Todd Christofferson, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony of Jesus Christ's sacrifice and how that sacrifice yokes us with Him. The evening before the trials and crucifixion that awaited Him, Jesus joined in a Passover meal with His Apostles. At the end of this Last Supper, in a sacred Intercessory Prayer, Jesus petitioned His Father in these words: “Holy Father, keep through thine own name [mine Apostles] whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they also may be one in us.” In our extremely contentious world, how can unity be achieved, Paul gives us the key: “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” We are too diverse and at times too discordant to be able to come together as one on any other basis or under any other name. Only in Jesus Christ can we truly become one. Becoming one in Christ happens one by one If individually we each “put on Christ,” then together we can hope to become one, as Paul said, “the body of Christ.” Unity does not require sameness, but it does require harmony. We can have our hearts knit together in love, be one in faith and doctrine, and still cheer for different teams, disagree on various political issues, but we can never disagree or contend with anger or contempt for one another. I say again that it is only in and through our individual loyalty to and love of Jesus Christ that we can hope to be one—one within, one at home, one in the Church, eventually one in Zion, and above all, one with the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. I return to the events of Holy Week and the ultimate triumph of our Redeemer. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ bears witness of His divinity and that He has overcome all things. His Resurrection bears witness that, bound to Him by covenant, we too may overcome all things and become one.

26:: Filling Our Minds with the Power of Jesus Christ

01.01.1970 01:00:00 23.03.2024 14:00:38
My prayer at this Easter season is that we will more consciously shape, strengthen, and secure this preeminent thought of Jesus Christ in the chambers of our soul, allowing it to eagerly flow into our mind, guide us in what we think and do, and continually bring the sweet joy of the Savior’s love. Filling our mind with the power of Jesus Christ does not mean that He is the only thought we have. But it does mean that all our thoughts are circumscribed in His love, His life and teachings, and His atoning sacrifice and glorious Resurrection. Jesus is never in a forgotten corner, because our thoughts of Him are always present and “all that is in [us adores] him!”We pray and rehearse in our mind experiences that have brought us closer to Him. We welcome into our mind divine images, holy scriptures, and inspired hymns to gently cushion the countless daily thoughts rushing through our busy lives. Our love for Him does not shield us from the sadness and sorrow in this mortal life, but it allows us to walk through the challenges with a strength far beyond our own. In this Easter season, I witness the complete and absolute truth of the Savior’s incomparable atoning sacrifice and of His glorious Resurrection. As your mind remains firmly and forever upon the thought of Jesus Christ, and as you continue to focus your life more fully on the Savior, I promise you that you will feel His hope, His peace, and His love.

27:: The Significance of Palm Sunday | Easter

01.01.1970 01:00:00 22.03.2024 14:00:39
The Significance of Palm Sunday marked the beginning of the most important event on Earth. Elder Ronald A. Rasband, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony of Jesus Christ's final week of His mortal ministry. Nearly 2,000 years ago, Palm Sunday marked the beginning of the last week of the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ. It was the most important week in human history. What began with the heralding of Jesus as the promised Messiah in His triumphant entry into Jerusalem closed with His Crucifixion and Resurrection. By divine design, His atoning sacrifice concluded His mortal ministry, making it possible for us to live with our Heavenly Father for eternity. Scriptures tell us that the week began with throngs standing at the gates of the city to see “Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.” They “took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried: Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.” Though we do not stand at the gates of Jerusalem today with palms in our hands, the time will come when, as prophesied in Revelation, “a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, [will stand] before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.” I leave with you my blessing as an Apostle of Jesus Christ that you will diligently strive to live righteously and be among those who, with palms in their hands, will herald the Son of God, the great Redeemer of us all.

28:: A Powerful Testimony of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

01.01.1970 01:00:00 21.03.2024 14:00:32
A Powerful Testimony of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ live in the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, shares the greatest Easter story ever told. Let it not be the greatest Easter story never told. Elder Gary E. Stevenson, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony and "invites us to look at the Book of Mormon in a new light and consider the profound witness of the reality of the risen Christ as well as the richness and depth of the doctrine of Christ." We are deeply grateful for New Testament scripture that preserves the story of Easter and the Savior’s Easter ministry in Judea and Galilee. In addition to the important verses about Easter in the New Testament, we as Latter-day Saints are endowed with a most remarkable Easter gift! A gift of unique witness, another testament of the Easter miracle that contains perhaps the most magnificent Easter scriptures in all of Christianity. I am referring of course to the Book of Mormon and, more specifically, to the account of Jesus Christ appearing to inhabitants in the New World in His resurrected glory. In reality, the Book of Mormon shares the greatest Easter story ever told. Let it not be the greatest Easter story never told. I have observed that when President Russell M. Nelson gives a gift of the Book of Mormon to someone not of our faith, including world leaders, he often turns to 3 Nephi and reads about the appearance of the resurrected Christ to the Nephites. The Book of Mormon is another witness of Jesus Christ because throughout its sacred pages, one prophet after another testifies not only that Christ would come but that He did come. I invite you to look at the Book of Mormon in a new light and consider the profound witness it bears of the reality of the risen Christ as well as the richness and depth of the doctrine of Christ. His visit as a resurrected Savior, introduced by God the Father, is a most glorious and triumphant Easter message. It will help our family members gain a personal testimony of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer, who broke the bands of death. I close with my testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of Jesus Christ as the Son of the living God. 30:: Jesus Christ Has Overcome Unfairness for Us All

01.01.1970 01:00:00 20.03.2024 14:00:05
Jesus Christ has overcome unfairness for us all. Elder Dale G. Renlund, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shares his testimony of Jesus Christ and how His Atonement "absorbed" unfairness for all. Some unfairness cannot be explained. Unfairness comes from living with bodies that are imperfect, injured, or diseased. Some people are born in affluence; others are not. Some have loving parents; others do not. Some live many years; others, few. My heart aches for those who face such unfairness, but I declare with all my aching heart that Jesus Christ both understands unfairness and has the power to provide a remedy. Nothing compares to the unfairness He endured. It was not fair that He experienced all the pains and afflictions of mankind. It was not fair that He suffered for my sins and mistakes and for yours. But He chose to do so because of His love for us and for Heavenly Father. He understands perfectly what we are experiencing. Because Jesus Christ endured the infinite atoning sacrifice, He empathizes perfectly with us. He is always aware of us and our circumstances. In the eternities, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will resolve all unfairness. In unfair situations, one of our tasks is to trust that “all that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.” Jesus Christ overcame the world and “absorbed” all unfairness. Because of Him, we can have peace in this world and be of good cheer. If we let Him, Jesus Christ will consecrate the unfairness for our gain. He will not just console us and restore what was lost; He will use the unfairness for our benefit. I testify that the Savior lives. He understands unfairness. The marks in the palms of His hands continually remind Him of you and your circumstances. He ministers to you in all your distress. For those who come unto Him, joy and gladness will replace grief and sorrow. All unfairness will be consecrated for your gain. All unfairness will be consecrated for your gain. I so testify in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

31:: Infertility Triumph: How Jesus Guided Our Journey

01.01.1970 01:00:00 08.02.2024 15:00:13
"After a few months of trying to get pregnant, we knew this wasn’t going to be an easy ride. Anyone who’s gone through infertility challenges knows it’s like a storm. It’s a storm of broken dreams and hopes; this storm turned our lives upside down. But we learned that even though these storms were really strong, they pushed us to rely on God even more. 32:: The Light of Christmas: A Journey from Darkness to Hope

01.01.1970 01:00:00 21.12.2023 15:00:41
I have had so many experiences as an artist and as an individual when I've been discouraged and I haven't known how to get through it. The proverbial Red Sea is before me, and I don't have a way to cross it. And in those moments the Savior has always come to help me. It's not always the way I expect, or the timing I want, but He always comes—even if just to provide reassurance and strengthen my heart. At Christmas that is what I am so thankful for—that peace, that strength, and that love that the Savior brings into my life. 41:: How I Found Out God Loves Me

01.01.1970 01:00:00 22.11.2023 15:52:44
When I was born I could hear just fine, but I started to lose my hearing around the age of four, by the age of six I lost my hearing completely. I struggled to feel love and peace throughout my childhood because kids would tease me and made me feel that I was less than them. I felt very alone and afraid to talk for fear they would make fun of me. It brought me to a very dark place and afraid for the future because I feared what my life would be like if no one wanted to talk to me. But I realized I was seeking the wrong sources, I was seeking acceptance and approval from those around me. I thought if they would accept me I would have a sense of belonging and happiness. It was not until I started to pray to God and turn to Christ that I started to feel peace. Being deaf no longer bothers me, now I focus on what I can do to help others find their own personal peace by turning to Christ. “It’s taken me a long time to discover how to become the person that I should be. I’ve grown up feeling a lot of shame, not belonging, and feeling like I don’t fit in. I have discovered that many of my external challenges stem from unresolved internal conflicts, such as resentments, childhood wounds, and carried shame. “I know each of us have our own trials and struggles but for me, recognizing that Jesus Christ gave the perfect example, I don’t question His love for me, but at times, I’ve had a hard time accepting that love in myself. 50:: Embrace Faith, Spread Love, and Change Lives

01.01.1970 01:00:00 17.09.2023 14:00:33
“While listening to a speech by faith leader Elder Juan A. Uceda called ‘The Lord Jesus Christ Teaches Us to Minister,’ I realized that the only way to truly find the peace and joy that I yearned for was through being the Savior’s hands to lift, serve, and love others. I set a goal to be a better everyday ‘minister’ for 30 days—keeping my head on a swivel for opportunities to connect with people, serve them, and be a purposeful friend. This experience reminded me that the happiest times of my life are those where I was most actively engaged serving other people. When I get down, that’s my sign that I need to reach out and lift someone else. These lessons have brought me a renewed sense of peace, joy, and purpose for my life. I want my life to be defined by Christlike service, not financial success or worldly fame.” —Jared Watch Jared's 30-day Challenge here: SUBSCRIBE to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the latest videos: http://bit.ly/1M0iPwY Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/churchofjesuschrist Twitter: https://twitter.com/ch_jesuschrist?lang=en Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ChurchOfJesusChrist/ Website: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/inspiration/latter-day-saints-channel/?lang=eng

Listen With Love | Try Faith: 30-Day Challenge | #HEARHIM “I’ve always loved sharing my belief in Jesus Christ with others, but sometimes I sensed a hesitancy from others to ask questions about my faith, and, honestly, I’ve felt a little scared asking people about things they believe, especially if I sense they are vastly different from my own. As I pondered this, I was struck by a statement by President Russell M. Nelson, who asked us to ‘replace … contention with peace’ (“Peacemakers Needed,” general conference, Apr. 2023). He recalled the words of Jesus Christ, who said, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God’ (Matthew 5:9). “Trying to be like Jesus can feel overwhelming. I love my Savior and have always kept Him at the center of my life, but it is so easy to second-guess my own efforts, especially when things get worse. Sometimes I feel weighed down with anxiety, wondering if God is pleased with my efforts or if I am the reason things get worse. “Then I listened to an inspiring message by Vern P. Stanfill called ‘The Imperfect Harvest’ that helped me have a greater understanding of what God expects. I wanted to apply what I learned to better follow God, but over the next 30 days, things took a turn I was not expecting.
