Staten Island Advance STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The opening of a new migrant shelter at the former St. John Villa Academy has been met with days long protests as hundreds of borough residents continue to voice their fervent opposition to the use of the former school to help house the city’s influx of migrants.
