Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel who was brutally stabbed during a live-streamed sermon said on April 18, 2024, that he is recovering quickly and forgives the young man who attacked him. The April 15 stabbing, which initially sparked clashes between police and angry church supporters, was later determined to be a religiously motivated terrorist act. The 16-year-old suspect was taken to a Sydney hospital after the incident.
